TONOPAH WAS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF SUFFICIENT INTEREST for the 2008 Soaring year. Maybe next year?

Russ Barry is the event honcho for Soarfari Event 3 which  is a seven day visit to Tonopah, Nevada.

Tow Plane: Jeff Campbell of Telluride Soaring, who towed for us last year at Tonopah will be towing for us again at Tonopah. Tow fees will be $60 for the first 2K + $1.50 per hundred after that. We need a minimum 10 pilots, max 15 pilots. Reservation deposits will be required using the method utilized last year and outlined in the clarification on Deposit Rules below. Deposit amount will be $120, non-refundable unless the tow plane does not make it on site or the event is cancelled. Also at Tonopah a contest-like rotating grid launch order will be used to eliminate hours of waiting on the tarmac, while still being fair to everyone.

Deposit rules will apply to this event. Details will be set when a tow plane is contracted.

In 2007 there was camping on the airport near our tie down location. Unfortunately, there are no restrooms available after hours and no showers. There will be oxygen and water available on the field. We will not be charged any tie down fees.

There are a number of motels and a couple of campgrounds in Tonopah.
